Fungal Nails

Fungal nails can cause dramatic visual changes to a nail which can be unsightly. They can make the nail change colour and cause them to become thicker. The nail can also cause pressure on the toe and can become painful.

A fungal nail infection (onychomycosis) is very common. Around 50% of all nail problems are due to fungal nail infections. It is usually found in adults and its prevalence increases with age.

There are several types of fungus that can cause nail infections and a Podiatrist can advise you with regard to the treatment and management of fungal nails.
